La CATRINA Casa de Comida
This project was extremely challenging as well as entertaining. My client approached me with an idea for a restaurant at a place he just signed the lease to; the concept is classic Mexican dishes put in a hand-made tortilla or in a quesadilla. Everything is oriented towards healthy, organic and environmentally conscious consumers that are beginning to grow in the border Mexican market.
I was involved in every step of the way, from the concept to remodeling the kitchen as well as building a central lamp chandelier. The project involved a mural of Frida Kahlo decorated as a Posada’s Catrina, hand lettered menu and street stand. The color palette mirrors Frida and Diego’s house, while the logo is a synthesis of a traditional serving plate with the iconic feathers of lady death’s hat wrapped in a flour tortilla.
